DJ Cedric Buser Interview | Respect The DJ Interview
How did you get into DJing?
I don't know exactly anymore, because when I remember I was always very interested in music. I really started after I saw what energy and especially what feelings Avicii was able to trigger in his set. After that I put together with two good friends who are known as Jacksklusiv today and we started practicing behind the Dj desk for hours. After that followed some local parties in the region.
What did you do to advance your skills/knowledge?
I spent hours practicing and watching tutorials on Youtube or sets of big and famous DJs and trying to recreate the transitions. You could say learning by doing, trial and error. Furthermore, whenever I met the DJ at parties, I tried to pick up as much know-how as possible and let myself be inspired by their music.
What did your first setup look like?
I remember I had a DDJ RB controller from Pioneer at the time. It was extremely simple, but it was enough for the basics. Shortly after that my setup was made up of 2 Pioneer 850 CDJ's and an analog mixer.
What does your current setup look like?
Currently I play on the Pioneer 2000 CDJ's and a DJM 900NXS2 mixer because, most clubs have Pioneer equipment.
How did you get your DJ/Artist name?
That's very easy to answer. It's my real name. After thinking about it for days, I decided to use my real name because, I think it's cool. I believe my music should sound like me, so I embody my musicality.
If you could DJ at any 3 events/festivals what would they be?
Since I already fulfilled my dream to play at the NOA Beach club and the Electric Love Festival I think I would love to play at the following festivals:
Tomorrowland
Awakenings Festival or ADE
Ultra Miami
If you could DJ in any 3 cities what would they be?
Hmm, I would generally want to make people feel special around the world and take them on a trip during my set, but I think it would be very cool to play in Las Vegas, Berlin, and Miami.
If you could be a tour DJ for any artist (dead or alive), who would it be?
I can't decide between Martin Garrix and Avicii. Both are extremely inspiring and for me my greatest idols. In addition, both convey unique and long-lasting music. I mean who doesn't know levels from Avicii or animals from Martin Garrix.
What is your goal when you play live?
That the people went home with a big smile and experienced a journey that was full of extreme emotions and joy. According to my motto "Music is the key to the soul".
What's your go to song right now?
Gravity by Boris Brejcha
What is your dream as a DJ?
To live from my music and around the world to tours and with music give people unforgettable moments.
What is some advice you would give to someone with a dream to become a DJ?
Be yourself and don't give up. In addition, never let yourself get down no matter what everyone says.
