Felium Interview | Respect The Dj Interview

How did you get into DJing?

I actually began producing music before I started Djing. By making EDM music and learning about the electronic scene. Latter I got really interested in learning how to DJ.

What did you do to advance your skills/knowledge?

In my career so far, there have been two keys that have made me a better DJ/Producer and have advanced my knowledge and skills: one of them was practicing and spending a lot of time learning the craft. The other one was by surrounding myself with talented people that have the same passion as me and that have the same goals and dreams, and as a result, learning from them.

What did your first setup look like?

My first dj setup was very simple, I had a two channel DJ Hercules controller that ran a program called Djuced, and two speakers that my parents had previously stored in their basement from years ago.

What does your current setup look like?

My setup is a four channel Pioneer controller called DDJ-RX that runs a program called Rekordbox, and two monitor speakers called Yamaha Hs 5.

How did you get your DJ/Artist name?

I actually used to have another artist name that I came up with, however it was really cringy and it didn’t sound good. One day one of my friends who I make music with, came up with the name “Felium”, which happens to be my surname together with the first letter of my first name. I instantly fell in love with it, as it sounded really catchy and trendy and it was still my name!

If you could DJ at any 3 events/festivals what would they be?

Ultra Music Festival in Miami, Tomorrowland, and Barcelona Beach Festival, because I was born and raised in Barcelona, and it would mean so much to play in such a big festival with the support of all my childhood friends.

If you could DJ in any 3 cities what would they be?

Miami, Barcelona, Los Angeles.

If you could be a tour DJ for any artist (dead or alive), who would it be?

Don Diablo

What is your goal when you play live?

I believe that being a good DJ is all about connecting with the vibe of the crowd, and the closer the connection gets, the more we understand and like each other. Once I’m able to achieve this connection, I’m able to bring them into a journey with each song that I play.

What's your go to song right now?

I love Fisher’s groove, any song that I play by him will always get the crowd moving. My favourite song by him is Stop It.

What is your dream as a DJ?

To be able to discover the world by traveling to different countries and continents, DJ in shows as well as producing and releasing music for a living.

What is some advice you would give to someone with a dream to become a DJ?

I would tell them that even though the music business is a oversaturated market, if they really want it for the love of music and passion for the craft. If their are willing to put in the work and the hours like no one else does, then they are most likely going to get noticed at some point in their careers. Then they should try to get as many connections as possible and build as many relationships as possible to be able to get supported by other big DJs.
