JaySkillzKhan Interview | Respect The Artist
JaySkillzKhan, music artist & photographer born and raised in Staten Island New York was born into a musical family. At the young age of 7 is the 1st time he touched an MPC and the rest of was history.
How did you get your Artist name?
Jay Skillz was a childhood nickname I got from my dad. But I love Asian history and the Mongolians to be specific and that's what the Khan is,it's like the rank or leade
How did you get into creating?
I started off in a church choir and a bunch of the members there and started a music group called mack attack.
How has creating changed your life?
It's honestly helped shape me into a different person. Music has turned into more of a therapy for me than anything else and it gives me a chance to let people know that they're not alone with some of the emotions that they feel
Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Staten Island.
How did growing up in your neighborhood/city affect you?
I've lived in nearly every hood in Staten Island. It wasn't always the easiest you know seeing things from such a grittier angle or perspective. But. But I did learn how to adapt survive and just got the chance to meet with some true diamonds in the rough.
What did you do to advance your skills/knowledge?
I always felt like I was stuck in the middle of 2 generations per conspiracy so what I do usually is just gain knowledge and wisdom from the people I keep around me....and PRACTICE.
What does your current setup look like?
I currently do not record at home I go to several different studios in New York City. And as far as photography I have 2 cameras light successor
Who inspires you? Why do they inspire you?
I'm inspired mostly by my friends and family the ones who help keep me up when I'm feeling down. I do this for my lady,nieces and nephews ... I think they deserve the world
What is your goal when you create?
I only go when I create is to be heard and the people that hear what I have to say ,feel .whether be happy or sad I just don't want anyone ever feel alone.
Why do you create?
It's therapy for me it gives me a chance to express myself freely with no judgment

I listen to this song every day just reminds me to be grateful.
What is your dream as an artist and what steps are you taking to reach your dream?
My dream is to become a full time artist whether it is photography or music, I just want to create ....and that's all I really want to do.
What is the best advice you would give someone with a dream?
Live in your dream wholeheartedly and believe in yourself more than anyone else because no one has that same vision do for what you can be , who you're GOING to be.

So I'm currently working on the release of my EP
"Project Chrysalis " This one is really important to me because I wrote it in a time when I really lost who I was this is my transformation as well
