DJ Tylerr Interview | Respect the DJ Interview
How did you get your name?
I really wanted to change my dj name because I thought it was so simple and basic. It was literally my birth name with dj in from of it. A lot of people got used to calling me Dj Tyler so it was kinda too late to make a change to something other than that so I just went with what I already had and tried to make it unique. I came up with the name "Dj Tylerr". The name is from my first name, Tyler, and the first initial of my last name, Robinson.
How did you get into DJing?
I had a passion for music since I was about 2 years old. Firstly I started off playing drums at my church then I met this Dj at an event I attended in the summer of 2013. Djing seemed pretty interested and I wanted to learn more so I asked him for a copy of his dj software and that was where it all began.
What did you do to advance your skills/knowledge?
Well back in 2013 when I got my first dj software downloaded on my laptop, I practiced every day to get better at djing. I never had another dj to teach me or anything like that so I figured it out all by myself. Nowadays I listen to other djs on radio stations all over for new ideas and much more.
What did your first set up look like?
I bought my first dj controller on August 11, 2017. This was the Numark Mixtract Pro 3. My first setup was a Dell laptop, 2 Proreck 2000w 15" Powered Dj Pa Speaker System, and the Mixtract Pro 3.
What does your current setup look like?
My current setup is a Pioneer DDJ-SX3, Macbook Pro, 2 Behringer Eurolive B212D Powered PA Speakers, and a Behringer EUROLIVE B1200D-PRO 12" Active Subwoofer.

If you could produce for any artist (dead or alive), who would it be?
I would like to produce for Dababy.
What is your goal when you create?
My goal while djing is to always put on a great performance for my audience. I like ensuring that the audience is having fun and enjoying the music.
What's your go-to song right now?
My go to song is "Dior" By Pop Smoke ft Gunna.
What is your dream as a DJ?
My dream as a dj is to be on a huge radio station like Hot 97 and to also be an official tour dj for an artist.
What is some advice you would give to someone with a dream to become a DJ?
I would say practice as much as you can, be open to various music genres, get to know other djs, and last but not least get your name out there. You can get your name out there by uploading your dj mixes on music platforms like SoundCloud and also by handing out your dj cards.
