How did you get into DJing?

One of my (now) best friends had a pair of turntables at his house. I went over there one day and watched him, and his brother mix and the rest is history. I was instantly hooked!

What did you do to advance your skills/knowledge?

I did a lot of mixing in my room, and then eventually for my friends, and eventually got some gigs at local spots in Toronto. I was so nervous at first!

What did your first setup look like?

My first set up was two Newark TT500 turntables and an old Newark mixer that I used with Serato’s Scratch Live. I then upgraded to the Allen & Heath Xone42 and bought two Pioneer CDJ 850’s. I used this set up for years.

What does your current setup look like?

I currently don’t have a set up, but eventually I will buy 3 or 4 CDJ Nexus2’s and Xone92. That’s a lovely combo

How did you get your DJ/Artist name?

It’s funny, I actually pronounced the name of a song I really liked many years ago called Wekesa as “weska” and the incorrect pronunciation just stuck with me

If you could DJ at any 3 events/festivals what would they be?

Awakenings in the Gashouder, Fusion Festival and Sonus

If you could DJ in any 3 cities what would they be?

Tibilisi, Tokyo and Cape Town

If you could be a tour DJ for any artist (dead or alive), who would it be?

Led Zeppelin, hands down!

What is your goal when you play live?

When I DJ my most important goal is to make people dance while creating a unique experience for them. I love combining and looping tracks, always playing fresh material, my new tracks etc. I try to do something special every time.

What's your go to song right now?

Roberto Capuano – ‘On Your Skin’

What is your dream as a DJ?

I really want to have in impact on my fans the way my idols have had an impact on me. If I can be successful in doing and while having a career in this industry I think that would really be magical.

What is some advice you would give to someone with a dream to become a DJ?

Go get it! And don’t stop, it’s possible. Try to bring something new and different and do it with all your passion.
