DJ Roamy Interview | Respect The Dj
How did you get into DJing?
I started to DJ back in 2007 I believe during my high school days. Me and my buddies would host house parties and well I always wanted to learn to DJ so our house parties was where I would practice in a sense.
What did you do to advance your skills/knowledge?
A lot of practice and meeting with local DJs to have them teach me house to DJ. Youtube wasn't so big back then so there wasn't any tutorials on DJing at the time.
What did your first setup look like?
Oh wow, Honestly it was just a computer with DJ Virtual and a simple AUX cord that connected to two speakers. Pretty cheap at the time but it worked. Later on I moved on to Techniques 1200 series.
What does your current setup look like?
I am currently using a controller the DDJ-SX3 by Pioneer
How did you get your DJ/Artist name?
The name Roamy was given to me by my father. He would tell me that when he was a kid his older cousin would be known as Roam and since my dad would follow him around they started calling him Little Roam so jokingly my dad would call me Roamy. So it was a no brainer for me when deciding a name for myself.
If you could DJ at any 3 events/festivals what would they be?
Wonderland MTY, Tomorrowland, EDC Las Vegas
If you could DJ in any 3 cities what would they be?
Monterrey MX, Las Vegas, Los Angeles
If you could be a tour DJ for any artist (dead or alive), who would it be?
I would have to go with Deorro and be his opening DJ
What is your goal when you play live?
To make sure the crowd has an unforgettable experience
What's your go to song right now?
As weird as it might seem right now I enjoy, Letting People Go by Carnage
What is your dream as a DJ?
To Tour around the world playing my music.
What is some advice you would give to someone with a dream to become a
DJ?
JUST DO IT! Don't let anyone tell you, that you can't.
