Savthegenius Interview | Respect the Artist Interview | @savthegenius
Hello, to you and yours. My name is Savthegenius, an artist, producer, and audio engineer. I’ve been creating music since I was 12 years of age. Currently producing for myself and others worldwide!
How did you get your name?
Since a kid, my family and friends called me a genius, being in studios or for a long period of time doing the thing that was out of the box gave me the recognition to identify as a genius.
How did you get into creating?
Ever since the first day I heard my voice on record, It was love at first listen. That infatuation grew as I got more seasoned and older in age.
How has creating changed your life?
I found myself through my music. Creating literally provided a lifestyle and living for me. I was able to quit my 9-5 through the power of music production. If that’s not life-changing I’m not sure what is.
Where are you from?
I’m from Westchester, New York. Yonkers to be more specific about it
How did growing up in your neighborhood/city affect you?
Being from Yonkers gave me the hustler mentality. Being from New York there isn’t a chance to lack. You can get left behind in a New York minute.
What did you do to advance your skills/knowledge?
I seek mentorship. Finding like-minded people in positions I want to be in and emulating the things I like and taking notes on the things that I feel could be improved.
What does your current setup look like?
My current setup looks very professional. The best way I can explain is a gamer shares space with a music producer.
Who inspires you? Why do they inspire you?
My inspiration is my siblings. They inspire me to be the best version of myself. There are 4 of us so we push each other and hold each other accountable for all of the things we set out to do. I’m not sure where I’d be without their motivation.
What is your goal when you create?
My goal while creating is to give myself the feeling that I’m the best artist I’ve ever heard. Create something that gives me goosebumps on playback. Music that writes itself through past experiences.
Why do you create?
I create to inspire, to let people know and see that it can be done. No matter who you are or what you have been through, you can follow your passions with no regrets.
What's your go-to song right now and why is it important to you?
My go-to song right now is Baddest in the Room by Savthegenius. This record was so fun to make and it proved to me that I can make something that empowers females to be the best version of themselves. It’s important that I make people, especially women, feel good while listening to my music.
What is your dream as an artist and what steps are you taking to reach your dream?
My dream as an artist is to be platinum for something I produced, wrote, and gave vocals on. Every day I’m creating and finding new ways to expand my fanbase.
What is the best advice you would give someone with a dream?
The best advice I would give to someone with a dream is to not give up. That way you don’t have to start over.
Tell us about your most recent release
My most recent release is Baddest in the room. This record was written, produced, and engineered by me. It features my close friend Lyrivelli, an astonishing artist from Brooklyn. I wrote this record to empower all the women out there that don’t always feel they got it. Let this be a reminder to you that you're beautiful in your own skin. No one can take away your confidence unless you allow them to. Be you in the BADDEST WAY.
