Pretty Boy Lou - 'Back Home 2' Interview

It’s That Season Again presents - Back Home 2

Can you tell us about the theme or concept behind this album?
The theme comes from moving out of my parents’ house at a young age and experiencing what it’s like to survive on my own. It’s about realizing that sometimes you need to come back home to get that feeling back.

What was your main inspiration for creating this album?
Fatherhood and new surroundings.

What inspired you to create this album?
I went back into the archives and thought, "Yeah, we need a part 2, lol."

How would you describe the sound and style compared to your previous work?
My messages and perspectives are much clearer now. That’s why beat selection was crucial for this project — it helps tell my truth more effectively.

Are there any tracks that hold special meaning to you? Why?
Absolutely. There’s a track called Mood Swings that really shows my growth as an artist. It pushed me to switch up flows and experiment with colorful melodies.

Did you collaborate with any other artists or musicians? How did those collaborations happen?
Not really. I kept everything pretty much in-house.

Were there any challenges or unexpected moments during production?
Most definitely. I was working on this project while preparing for the birth of my son. There were times when I had to push back dates and cancel studio sessions — it got pretty heavy.

Can you share any interesting stories from the recording studio or tour?
No crazy stories for this project, but I’ll be releasing some behind-the-scenes content soon.

What message or emotion do you want to convey to your audience?
Stay consistent. Don’t drop the ball. Take time to rest, but always get back in and push your creative limits.

How does this album reflect your personal growth as an artist?
You can hear a wiser and more witty Lou in this project.

Were there any specific instruments or production techniques that shaped the sound?
Some tracks were specifically built around the lyrics to hit harder and paint vivid pictures.

Are there any lyrical themes or narratives throughout the album?
Listeners will definitely get a sense of where I come from and where I’m headed.

What are your plans for promoting it? Can fans expect live performances or videos?
There will be a social media rollout along with upcoming performances connected to the album.

If you could remix any song on the album, who would you feature?
I’d love to have Jadakiss on a remix of Season Gang.

What advice would you give someone with a dream?
Be your own biggest fan and rock out.
