Where are you from?: Arkansas
Tell us the story of how you got into writing: Multi-Award-Winning Author, LaQueisha Malone was born and raised in Arkansas, where she currently resides with her family. She has worked as a Psychiatric Aide at a children’s Habilitation Center for 9 years and worked as the Education Administrative Assistant at the same Habilitation Center for another 5 years.
Writing has always been a part of her life. She began writing fiction stories and poetry about the age of 13. It was her way of coping with everyday situations. She accredits Dr. Maya Angelou for her love of writing poetry. Her poetry has been entered into numerous contests, and many of them were published in book and CD compilations through The International Library of Poetry. She also won many awards for these publications. Even though, LaQueisha Malone, got her start as a published author writing poetry, as of recent years she has been writing books and short stories in the genre Young Adult Fiction and Adult Fiction.

These stories are near and dear to her heart because they are Real-Life Issue related genres based on lessons she has learned and is learning.
She taught Creative Writing at The Lighthouse of Wisdom for three years and has released three books A New Pair of Shoes Step In Mine, Cell of the Mind, and A Walk In My Shoes. She has a featured short story in the Love, Marriage, & Divorce Anthology (2016), Sex, Lies, & Church Anthology (2017), Rebuilding Your Life Going Forward (2018), A Mother's Day Nightmare (2020).
She has been featured several times online from Blogs, Radio, and Magazines such as Sledge Rock City, NuSouth Magazine, KnowUrEnemy BlogTalkTadio, The1Essence Radio, One West Radio, SiRR Magazine, the Larry Love Show, the Author's Corner with H. D. Campbell, the BluePrint with Treasure Blue, Strawberry-Lit Magazine, and Urban Grapevine Magazine.
In 2013, LaQueisha Malone launched her own publishing company Strawberry Publications, LLC. She wants to offer Authors a ripened experience of publishing. In 2015, LaQueisha Malone was Awarded 2015 Poet of the Year at the AAMBC Literary Awards in Atlanta, GA. She launched Strawberry-Lit Magazine in 2016. In 2018, she was awarded the 2018 Helping Hands Awards from Book&Music with MizAuthorT at The Literary Affair in South Carolina.

What was your favorite book growing up?: Growing my favorite book was, “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” by Dr. Maya Angelou. That book brought my to tears.
What is your favorite book as an adult?: Anything by Niki Turner or Carl Weber. I love their work so much.
What is the name of your new book?: The latest release I’ve been featured in is “A Mother’s Day Nightmare,” which is an Anthology. But my most recent release is “A Walk In My Shoes”.
What inspired you to write the book?: What inspired me to write my story for “A Mother’s Day Nightmare” was inspired by children who were abducted. I was watching a documentary and knew it was what I need to talk about. As for “A Walk In My Shoes”, I’m a Poet so I was just telling my story through words and rhyme.
Tell us more about your new book: Jalissa and Robert had their world's turned upside down when their son, Robert, Jr, was kidnapped from the hospital six hours after his birth. The sixteen-year-old couple was unable to handle the crisis and eventually split.
Eighteen years later, and everyone except Jalissa has lost hope that Robert, Jr would be found. That is, until a trip to McDonald's, and a young familiar face appears. This sends Jalissa and her friend, Angela on a crazy ride to determine if the young man is in fact, the son Jalissa had been waiting for.
Will it prove to be her son, or will this get more complicated than she bargained for?
Where do you go to get into writing mode?: A place for me to go to get in the mode for writing is anywhere that’s creative enough for me to write. Generally, I need a little soft music but it will get done.
Who needs to read this book?: The readers who need to read any of books are definitely people who struggling with social issue. That’s more of the sub-genre I write in. I love to offer hope and inspiration through my story telling.
Who inspires you?: My daughter is my biggest inspiration.
How important is reading and literacy for youth in this world?: Reading is the most fundamental aspect of survival in this world. A great strong foundation in literacy can expand the imagination of our youth creating possibilities that are limitless. Reading is a most.
What is some advice you would give to someone with a dream to create something they dream of?: My advice to someone would be to research their craft, study it, and pursue it shamelessly.
