D.Cure 'Cuz It Bangz 5' Interview

What inspired the title?

This is the fifth (and final) installment of my 'Cuz It Bangz series'! The main idea behind this was to create bangers. Not commercial, not golden era, but all-inclusive hip-hop with clever bars and heavy instrumentals.

Where did you record this album?

This album was recorded all over the U.S. I feature some of my favorite up-and-coming emcees that I've had the pleasure of working with in the past.

What is your favorite track? Why?

The thing about this album is that it has many different sounds and highlights others. It's my project but this is about everyone. Each song has a different feel and vibe so I couldn't pick just one.

What is your favorite line from the album?

How about one line from every emcee?

"Till my body's got rigor mortis, I'll be kicking doors in to spit this for.. everyone thinking there isn't an option beyond Tiktok..."
- MCRE

"Happiness is a room-temperature gun pressed up against cold planet testing the merits of love in the flawless dark of thoughtful abandon..."
- B.Moore

"Make it rain and the club got paper cuts, no matter what I make seems I'll never make enough."
- Sankofa

"Always start I had the juice it was tang, so I was kicking it fly Liu Kang."
-Hardy Legnd

"I'm consciously a professor accomplishing whatever I focus on when most of y'all are sheep disguised as shepards."
- Lou Slugga

"The B in MIB it stood for beards not just for black I heard that there's some trust in that."
- MC ULTIMATE

"No way these rappers will get the best of me, unless it's a greatest hits CD."
- Dirty Needles

"I'm ice cold might go claim the spot from these old head bangers like I'm in a heavy metal band."
- Think 2wice

" Seek the help but don't pop the pills no amount Xany will stop the chills, it'll have you going up and down hills talkin' suicide no ladder drills.."
- Topher

"Cold as ice get to haunting the second I hold the mic, all the ghost writers scared they call me the poltergeist."
- Lil Dee

"Image is shattered been twisted and vibrant though/Even with fragments my vision is slighted though/Even with capital, feeling like “i” is broke/ How did I ever get in this kaleidoscope?”
- The Marine Rapper

"Relationships ripped to pieces... torn and tattered like a broken ladder trying to climb my way up out the sewer."
- Chuck Brown

"Topple down a house of cards and found a room with padded walls that he would bounce around from every angle - game of racquetball."
- Ekspan

"Yes, his plan will be fulfilled, yes, he's blessed me with the skill but if I'm gonna rep Him I've got some big shoes to fill... Jesus."
- I.V.

Who helped make this album what it is? Writers, Producers, Muses, Support System, Etc

I couldn't have done this without every emcee I quoted above: MCRE, Sankofa, B.Moore, Hardy Legnd, Lou Slugga, MC ULTIMATE, Dirty Needles, Think 2wice, Topher, The Marine Rapper, Lil Dee, Chuck Brown, Ekspan and I.V. I'm blessed to work with these talented artists and I just do my best to keep up. I have to thank 2probeats for being such a gifted and hard-working engineer. I can never leave out the producers, so thank you Epistra, Ill Instrumentals, Insane Beats, Absynapse, Feniko Beats & Anabolic Beatz for the incredible productions! Also, a huge thanks to Created by Imrie & Colin Geal for the artwork! Last but not least, I have to thank my wife for understanding why I'm in the basement for hours on end every single day.

If you could remix any song and feature any artist, what song would it be and who would you feature on it?

I would just have every artist pick a different beat and do it all over again! This series is tough to say goodbye to but we had an incredible run.

What's your dream?

My dream is to make a difference and hope that I can also make a living off of making those differences.

What is some advice you would give to someone with a dream?

If your dream is competitive, work harder and more often at it than everyone around you. If someone is catching up then work with them and grow together. If your dream makes you happy you will never have to "wake up" and get a "real job".
