Chazzy Escobar Interview | Respect the Founder Interview

Chazzy Escobar sat down with us to discuss her business journey.

Where are you from?

Staten Island

What was your first business? How old were you?

Esco’s Bite’s

When did you know working for yourself was the way to go?

I knew working for myself would be great when I realized I wasn’t on a specific time schedule. I was granted more time with my kids. They got to see me at work. They got to see what I do. They got to help me and it gave me the chance to show them Firsthand what it would be like to have their own and what working for themselves would be like.

Can you talk us through your career to date and how you found your way to where you are now?

June 3, 2021 is when my career really took off. I was baking before hand but that day is the day I went viral. I made a strawberry churro cheesecake bites over 100 messages. I got over 40,000 shares and it just goes on and from that day, they have been a hit, I’m still very well known for them and then I’ve been invited to do vending shows. I’ve been catering a lot of parties weddings, baby showers. Etc

What inspired you to start your business?

I would say my aunt Jacqueline Gibson was my inspiration on starting my business. I grew up watching her cook Bake and do all sorts of things, but she was definitely my main inspiration and then in 2015 I landed my first pastry, chef assistant job at snug Harbor and that’s where I learned firsthand how to really move around the kitchen. I would go home and bake all sorts of things but in 2021 is when I really took off.

What are some of the biggest challenges you see in your market?

Some of the biggest challenges that I see honestly is really people selling themselves short if you feel like this is something you could be amazing at or it could just be something you enjoy doing I say push yourself that’s where I say. I messed up in the beginning, not really pushing myself, I was able to do it everybody bakes but not everyone bakes like you. Everyone has their own different technique of how they do things with me. I’m not a basic baker. I do flavors outside the box and I feel like everyone should think that way that’s how you attract more.

Who was one of your biggest supporters early on?

My biggest supporters was definitely my family and friends and my Staten Islanders. I’ve received so much support in the past couple of years and it’s only going up since then, but my family was definitely my biggest supporters.

What advice do you have for professionals looking to get started in your industry?

My advice for anyone looking to start their business is to sit down think about what it is that you really want to do and how you wanna get yourself out there it’s not easy. It’s very time-consuming. It’s very tiring but at the end of the day it is so worth it, not everything will go as planned but if you stick to it, it’ll turn out amazing.

Can you recommend one good business book, business podcast/radio show?

Podcast - LibraLanguage

What is some advice you would give to someone with a dream?

My advice would be FOLLOW IT DON’T LET ANYONE DISTRACT YOU DON’T LET ANYONE TELL YOU IT’S NOT GONNA GET FAR. DON’T LET ANYONE TELL YOU THAT DREAM SUCKS THAT DREAM WAS SENT TO YOU FOR A REASON AND IT’S UP TO YOU HOW YOU WERE GOING TO MANEUVER IT.
