Cauze Interview | Respect the Artist

How did you get your Artist name?

In my late teens I created a mixtape called "The Cauze" & friends who heard it started calling me Cauze after that... especially cuz of a line in a verse where I state "I am the Cauze..."

How did you get into creating?

I've always been an artist in some form since I can remember... from drawing to playing the piano in church to singing in the back of the "cheese" bus to building things with Legos & once I was in high school I was inspired by my older brother who was a DJ to create my own music with my younger brother. Started rapping, then learning how to record & engineer myself & make my own beats.

Now I am a Music Producer, Sound Engineer, Song Writer, Graphic Designer, & owner of Coalishun® Entertainment, a multimedia production company & studio in Yonkers, NY.

Where are you from?

The Bronx & Yonkers, NY... Born, raised & lived between the 2 my whole life.

What did you do to advance your skills/knowledge?

Study & learn from the greats & all my mistakes. Trying & failing has taught me more than anything else in this world... as it becomes experience. In my early 20s I took a course at the Institute of Audio Research in NYC while working at several recording studios & also learned many valuable lessons & insights from one of those studios & their head engineer, Mago from AriZZmA Ent. Studios, who became more like a big brother to me over the years.

What does your current setup look like?

Like my own spaceship! At least to me it's what it feels like when I'm on the boards, LoL. It's actually under construction at the moment... See, I lost my studio and all my equipment a few months ago & it was also my home/workplace, to a flash flood storm which caused backed up sewage to mix in with the flood waters... ... So in 1 night, lost it ALL. BUT the new Studio is up & running & almost finished. #KEEPGOING!

Who inspires you?

I draw inspiration from so many people & places... But thru my own life & experiences, ME... I'm inspired by by own survival, persistence, perseverance & my will to always learn & become better than ever.

What is your goal when you create?

That my love & passion can be sensed thru any art form I provide.

What's your go-to song right now?

"Overthinking" by 2 of my clients/favorite artists/friends... Richard Pigkaso featuring Blass 89. (Available everywhere: Apple, Spotify, Tidal, Amazon, Google, YouTube, & more)

I recorded, mixed & mastered it at the Coalishun® Entertainment Studio... Even did some doodling on the artwork.

What is your dream as an artist?

To inspire, connect, motivate, uplift, or simply make someone smile/laugh/dance... & for my clients to feel like I've exceeded their expectations.

What is some advice you would give to someone with a dream?

To keep it ALIVE! Keep going! Roadblocks, traffic & detours are a part of the process... Setting your destination clearly helps you stay on track like putting an address on the GPS... You'll get there eventually, even if it's not the originally planned route.
