303BAM 'Against Me' Interview
Fresh off the release of his new album 'Against Me' 303BAM sat down with the team at Stereotype Co for an exclusive interview to discuss the project.
What inspired the title?
I was having a conversation with one of my boys about life, and in the conversation, I was telling him how I felt with different struggles, conflicts, and how I felt people went against me, and that was it. Against me.
What is your favorite track? Why?
So on this project, John Calipari Is one of my favorite records. It starts with a sample of John Calipari speaking at a post-game press conference about Bam Adebayo. John starts speaking about Bam being too nice and how he could take over the game once he realizes who he really is. I felt a personal connection with the speech John was giving Bam and I felt like it resonated with me and my life, especially with my name being Bam. The song is hard, uptempo and I let everyone know how I'm feeling.
What is your favorite line from the album?
My favorite part is from Angels and Devils where I say "I had sessions back to back it had me feeling exhausted. I was sippin a little heavy left the studio nauseous. I've been lonely deep inside I get that feeling too often. We gon go and play the block another day in the office." It's a reflection of what I was feeling often during a certain point in my life. Putting you in my shoes.
Who helped make this album what it is?
On the production side I worked with my in-house producers St. Thrillah, J Boogz, and King M in addition to some other outside talent like Sir Luke, JLH, Its a Kai beat, Loaded, and TBG. I wanna shed light on one of my engineers: Petey Pesto who recorded and mixed the whole project. He played a big part in helping me bring this vision to life. I wanna thank my brother Monark for all of the visual work, graphic design, and content. I wanna shout out my bros Huncho, Diddy, Noni, Martin, and all of the 303. I also wanna thank my family and my girl for their support. Without them, I couldn't have made this happen.
If you could remix any song and feature any artist, what song would it be and who would you feature on it?
I would remix Life is good by Future and Drake and I would add Lil Durk to it.
What is some advice you would give to someone with a dream?: My advice would be to focus on growth everyday, build a positive lifestyle that works for you. Don't give up. Anything that's worth it doesn't come easy.
