Third3y3dchild Interview | Respect The Artist

Hey! I go by a lot of names but I’m Third3y3dChild or T3C. I’m a multi-medium illustrator. I’m going to elevate what it means to illustrate, I’m reintroducing what my creations and stories can be expressed and really deciding to build a way for me to not hold back what I’m destined for.

How did you get your name?

I Came up with the dumbest name I could think of at 15, but it was the only name that stuck.

How did you get into creating?

I don’t think I had a choice. Everything I was exposed to was creative since I was born, my brother got his graphic design degree while I was in middle school. My pops supervised the work of commercial artists all my life, he even went back to school for graphic design when I was in high school. Every cartoon, comedy or action flick left me inspired to draw, and every house party or song in my hand-me-down iPod took me to a different world. It’s just part of my nature, my existence revolves around expression, no jokes.

How has creating changed your life?

I think I always just put 2 and 2 together, that there’s synchronicity within everything. I think when I was understanding the elements of design or how to make different patterns in beat-making, I dug deeper to find what the similarities were between two different mediums, two different senses that can create that euphoria. I apply that same mentality when I go through life, there are just different perspectives where I can come to my own understanding and continue to grow. Any issues I had, the answer was always in the exploration of expression, it’s just the ultimate purpose for me.

Where are you from?

I moved around in NY, but I grew up in Long Island.

How did growing up in your neighborhood/city affect you?

I saw how different I was, and that made me an introvert in public and an extrovert with my fam. I always knew that I wasn’t meant to settle for acceptance, I had to find my tribe if that makes sense, so I guess it pushed me to explore.

What did you do to advance your skills/knowledge?

I used to do everything for attention, but that only gets you so far lol. But now I get honest with my self. I developed my discernment and really tried to clear up my intentions with my own goals and applied to everything I enjoyed or had a hard time doing. But I also know that taking risks and testing my limits was essential too.

What does your current setup look like?

I’m rebuilding, I used to have a studio, and a whole room, but nothing on my own from the ground up til now, I just got my desktop and my phone with a few drawing supplies. It’s all I need.

Who inspires you? Why do they inspire you?

I gotta be careful with this. Creatively it’s people who have a mind for innovation, exploration, and ingenuity, I try not to look at the personalities of those minds cause most geniuses and revolutionaries are insane, but their stories, style, talents, approach, and execution is what drive me. But I’m always inspired by people’s truth and how they live their truth. Even if their truth isn’t something I align with or they're fictional characters, there are always parts of it that can still resonate.

What is your goal when you create?

To know what the goal is. If it’s for practice then do my best and be lenient and inquisitive. If it’s for fun, then keep it random, if it’s for projects, obsession, and time management, if it’s for a personal goal, take my time and do it till it feels right. You get it like I can’t go lift 70 pounds and do a 5-mile sprint if I’m trying to work on flexibility right? It’s case to case for me.

Why do you create?

Cause it’s like breathing to me at this point. I enjoy my breaks and whatnot, but I’m never not going to create.

What's your go-to song right now and why is it important to you?

Anything ATCQ, cause they’re the best, I can’t get tired of listening to them.

What is your dream as an artist and what steps are you taking to reach your dream?

Creating a sustainable platform for myself to not make my creations solely for purpose of gaining clients or money or resources or clout, to focus on my growth and making things that I actually enjoy with the people or entities that I choose to work with. It’s not an easy thing, and it’s not the route that most want in reality. I’m having to make lots of time for inner work and build everything from the ground up, which I love for myself in the long run.

What is the best advice you would give someone with a dream?

Keep challenging your dream, it’s going to naturally evolve to what you actually want. You’re worth more than the dream you’ll accomplish, So stay moving forward, and don’t make it about passing the ribbon, make it about the motion.

Tell us about your most recent release

No. I can’t lmao. But… I’m learning to enjoy being consistent in my creativity for developing my brand and approach to art. It’s going to be different Cause I’m different. Not to just be “different” for the sake of being different, but I really can’t help where it has to go. What I’m doing is inevitable, and it’s going to be legendary.
