SweetArt Interview | Respect The Artist
How did you get your Artist name?: It’s a combination of being sweet art! And sweetheart
How did you get into creating?: I’ve been creating since I could hold a crayon. But more recently, during lockdown, I’ve had a lot of time to draw and create and push myself to work on my art and I’ve really been enjoying it.
How has creating changed your life?: I’ve connected with so many cool inspiring people, and drawing keeps me in a really good headspace. It feels good to have something that you can immerse yourself in and just zone out from the real world.
Where are you from?: Donegal, Ireland.
How did growing up in your neighborhood/city affect you?: I grew up in the countryside, so I guess it made me grateful for nature and being outdoors.
What did you do to advance your skills/knowledge?: I think buying and iPad enhanced my drawing skills because it was a new medium that I knew nothing about so it was fun to learn how to do it and how to improve my art. Also I’m starting a course in illustration and design so hopefully that will advance my skills further.
What does your current setup look like?: I draw digitally most of the time so my setup is either the sofa, my bed or sometimes the living room table. As long as I’m comfy and can have a little background noise or even silence.
Who inspires you? Why do they inspire you?: I think the whole art community on Instagram inspires me every day. It’s full of some really sweet humans with incredible skills. I think they inspire me because they always have fresh new ideas and their talent is unlimited.
What is your goal when you create? : I want to show people inside my brain. I do it to enjoy it, I think it’s so cool that you can draw anything you can imagine, take something from your brain and bring it to life for someone else to see.
Why do you create?: I love it, it’s such a fun outlet.
What's your go-to song right now and why is it important to you?:
What is your dream as an artist and what steps are you taking to reach your dream?: I think it would be really cool to fully live off my art, doing that as a full time job is the dream! I’ve been pushing myself to create as much as I can in my free time. I’ve started making a small amount of prints of my artworks to sell on Etsy
What is the best advice you would give someone? : Do art for the feeling of when you’re fully immersed in it, in your own little world, not to impress people. Yeah a little bit of wanting to impress is a good thing, but draw for the enjoyment you get from it.
A little advice I need to take myself is to believe you are good enough, because you are, stop comparing yourself. Be proud of yourself and the art you’ve created.
Tell us about your most recent release: I have a small amount of prints available on my Etsy account.
