How did you get your Artist name?:

When I was younger my mother used to call me her Lil’ Saint so that’s the name I used for years until I linked up with a clothing company called “SBS” (Sunny But Shady Co) so we dropped the Lil and added Shady.

How did you get into creating?:

When I was younger I lived with my mom. Her ex was abusive, stabbed me, threaten to kill me when I was only 9. I started writing as an escape, and a way for me to get my feeling out without physically saying it. When my parents went to court on a custody battle, the court made me speak to a therapist and I would give him everything I wrote.

How has creating changed your life?:

I met a lot of people in the industry; made some that became my boys for life. My boy Aceospades from NY and a lot of other artist I became close with that I’ve worked with:
Jahni Denver from Denver, Marley B from Tucson, Demrick from Cali, Dj Hoppa from Cali, Aaron Cohen from NY.

Where are you from?: Staten Island, NY.

How did growing up in your neighborhood/city affect you?:

I grew up on the north shore of Staten Island then after I moved to PA. When I was living in PA from my 5-7th grade years, it was of frank your from New York your a drug dealer etc. Bc of the way I dressed and just being where I was from when I moved back to Staten, I used to still chill on the north shore, got my ass in some trouble, been in moments where people were like “white boy what are you doing over here.” I just stood my ground, fought when I had to.

What did you do to advance your skills/knowledge?:

I went to SAE Institute in NYC, graduated top of my class as a recording and mixing engineer.

What does your current setup look like?:

Very DIY MacBook Pro queen Mattresses up against the wall set of rocket speakers and about $5000 of plug-ins. Also, I have a baby bottle microphone and the bluebird microphone.

Who inspires you? Why do they inspire you?:

My boy. That’s the other member of my group, lonely Staten Island Aceospades always pushing me forward and and helping me with my flow and timing.

What is your goal when you create? :

To always improve.

Why do you create?:

It something I love to do. Music is my life.

What's your go-to song right now and why is it important to you?:

My go to song right now is kick back. It’s a track I got to work on with one of my favorite producers, Dj Hoppa.

What is your dream as an artist and what steps are you taking to reach your dream?:

Just continue making music and one day start my own label and studio.

What is the best advice you would give someone? :

Don’t let people bring you down; this is your art. Keep pushing, keep improving.

Tell us about your most recent release: Soul and Pain; fun track. I did with Aaron Cohen, Nate Dog style, hook old school on a mixed beat; one of my favorite tracks i’ve done. It’s out now on all platforms.
