'Let Go' (Poem by Thomas Fucaloro) [Exclusive]
Let go
buh, buh, buh
buh, buh, buh
all of this
Have you ever been in this situation before
where a pause in sound is some sort of resound
for some sort of empathy:
Can we please have a moment of silence for the dearly departed?
Don’t you dare tell me how to grieve; I’ll give you a moment
but then I’m roaring like a grizzly mountain bear.
There are too many silences.
Too many silences that deserve noise.
Don’t ask me for a moment
while others are losing
a lifetime.
We must be a tinder
of flame
a tinder of inspire.
This somber
beard
has mourned
and tried
to replant
many a root.
If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around does it make a sound?
Of course it makes a sound, if it was worthy of standing of course it makes a sound.
You hear it over and over again and silence ain’t gonna cut it no more.
This world is as kind
as a switchblade.
As bite as a nail-tooth.
As autumn’d
as a burnt orange
crumpled up leaf.
As let go as the moon.
What I need is a moment
of clarity, of insight, raw
emotion pulsed and beating
in my chest, it beats in 3’s:
buh, buh, buh
buh, buh, buh
I am simply a body
in process
and processing all of this
takes all of this.
I am all
that I have
to give.
I am all
that I have
to give.
To give.
To give.
Give.
Give.
Give.
