Tell us the story of how you got into writing

My mom and dad were poets. My mother also wrote stories, plays, and music. The seeds were planted. Many of my mother’s things were misplaced after she died. I found a few of her incredible pieces that she typed up and printed through an old type writer. They are my precious gems that I reread often.

What was your favorite book growing up

 My favorite book growing up was Anasi the Spider. My mother kept the African culture alive in our home.

What is your favorite book as an adult?

My favorite book as an adult, I believe that I have not read yet I believe. I love so many but no number one.

What is the name of your new book?

Purpose: The Ultimate Climax

What inspired you to write the book?

I meet so many people all over the world who are lost and not living in their purpose. Since I was living in mine, I decided to help others find their purpose.

In her latest book, Purpose: The Ultimate Climax, Anisa shares what she sees as a guide for igniting purpose by reactivating pain points to achieve the possible. The book's eight chapters are organized to help you recognize the important lessons life teaches us along the purpose journey to ensure balance and self care take on an important role.

Anisa opens chapters by sharing personal stories and lessons that brought her to purpose. She then brings an interesting perspective from the battleground as a veteran, inspiring readers to strategically build a life of purpose and listen to universal and spiritual signs to help along the journey.Purpose: The Ultimate Climax provides an orgasmic resource for achieving a life we all desire, a life of purpose, however that may be fulfilled.

Where do you go to get into writing mode?

I need to be around nature to be in my writing mode. I feed off of the sun, the ocean, the islands vibes.

Who inspires you?

My mother inspires me the most. Even though she is not physically present anymore, her spirit lives on.

How important is reading and literacy for youth in this world?

The youth are our future. Nelson Mandela said “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” I believe education starts with communication, basic reading and writing starts the foundation.

What is some advice you would give to someone with a dream to create something they dream of?

No matter where you are from, your stories are valid. Your dreams help someone else when they are stuck. We need to share them, tell them, write them, sing them, create those masterpieces you dream of.
