My name is Alex Fasano. My rap name is AL. The Rune King. I am a 16-Year-old rapper and producer, a student of the game … young and hungry to grow!

How did you get your name?

AL because my name is Alex. Rune King because it means “ Poetry King”

How did you get into creating?

I did reviews of albums for a while on IG. I liked and respected people Like Shawn Cee and A. Fontano but did it just for fun and interest. My dad always saw something in me, said “my ear was amazing for such a young person” and encouraged me to meet Hason Denard, owner of Real Job Studios and member of the group Broetry. Ever since then, I was inspired and excited by Hason, his experience, work ethic, and put my all into making unique music under his guidance and Tutelage.

Where are you from?

Staten Island, NY.

What did you do to advance your skills/knowledge?

I study very specifically and with much respect and open-mindedness, Black Thought, KA ( Brownsville, BK artist ) Armand Hammer, Alchemist and Daringer, JPEG mafia, Tory Lanez, etc as artists have inspired me by their ability and art. Their talents make me more the novice and student of what I can learn from the prime of their careers as a 16 YO who aspires to be on their level and SOON …
Most important is my blessed relationship with Hason Denard. He has taken me under his wing and is family and created a monster in his work ethic and experience as an artist, producer Engineer, etc … I know his work and influence shows in my current and will in my future music if I’m lucky to continue to work with him.

What does your current setup look like?

At home, I have a really cool setup I'm SUPER proud of …some but many of my favorite vinyl on the wall along with letters and drawings my dad wrote me while he was away ( he was incarcerated for 10 months and completed the Shock incarceration military Program to come home in 10 months on a 2-6 yr sentence

Who inspires you? :

Of course clearly Hason Denard. I’m blessed to work with an artist, professional, professional experienced experimental perfectionist lol, and family friend. As an engineer, especially on Staten Island … with all due respect for anyone else out there … he’s the GOAT and Staten Island knows it and they should.

-KA. The artist from BK… his themed albums and challenges he gave himself to be a Full-time NYC Fireman by trade and rapper by night! He's also like me, mostly makes all of his own beats, and lyrics and is selective about who he’ll work with. Lol
-Black Thought with his vocabulary, legendary god tier 99 Galaxy Opal every badge unlocked in the rapper video game I want to be 10% of him. He is better than 90% of artists still amen lol

What is your goal when you create?

Challenge myself to create something new, cool, fun but unique!… (probably because I have PTSD bc my dad plays me “ No Ideas Original “ by NAS 90 x a week to inspire that ) lol to make music people can be happy with, want to talk about, unite over, dance with, buy, support and enjoy as much as we enjoy making it

Why do you create?

To be unique to be creative. It’s my outlet. It’s who and what I am when I’m not just Al Fasano if that makes sense … my dad played basketball all his life … he played and started Varsity as a freshman… he had A LOT of turnovers he says lol …
I want to be a young star … LUKA, Lil Wayne, level … I say them bc they were WAY ahead bc they “ played in the league w adults “ from a young age … I want to be taken seriously by professional artists bc I am one and work just as hard to create and be creative and successful as any artist which is why I wanna work with Like-minded artists!

How has choosing your creative path affected your life?: It has helped my self-worth, self-esteem, and self-confidence.. specifically… as being an artist and putting yourself and music and hard work out there is asking to be judged … I realized I am brave! I get anxious and nervous like anyone but I just dig through it and have fun!

Did you have to overcome any obstacles along the way?

My dad not being in my life for some time .. then the last few years is getting SO close like best friend level. Amazing feel good but really legit story … then him being taken away again and going to prison … took the wind out of our sails … but he worked hard I’m proud of him and he’s home and healthy and happier than ever and my manager and best friend and I’ve accomplished so much since he’s been home bc of God but dads talent given from God to believe in himself and me and not be afraid either to sell me and my music and brand and it’s done wonders

What's your go-to song right now and why is it important to you?

“ Birds “ feat Broetry … ( by me just released on 1-8-2023 which is my sister Brooklyn’s 6th birthday )

What is your dream as an artist and what steps are you taking to reach your dream?

To name some of the most unique and fun, interesting, inspiring, and original music I can and have the best time and network and meet the most people I can and be as supportive as I’d hope my peers would be to me

What would you tell someone else with a dream?

Do it right now, today literally in some way start …don’t think don’t let the devil or doubt creep in. Trust yourself and God … there are people like you, who like what you like and will like what you think is good that you made

Tell us about your most recent release: “ Birds “ feat. Broetry is released on all streaming platforms through Distrokid. Recorded at Real Job Studios and I had a solo verse for a presumed solo song. I played the beat and got on the booth and Hason stopped me and said he thinks he had a feature for me ( the original feature was an artist I met at @hitdabeatentertainment rising artist showcase. She had some personal stuff and so I was gonna do it solo … Hason called Malik, his band member in Broetry, and Malik came down and heard the beat … he and Hason made their verses on the spot in about 35 min … and the rest was mixed and mastered by Hason! That’s how Birds came about and the spontaneous atmosphere is why I humbly believe it’s such a beautiful song!
