What inspired you to pursue your dream, and how did it all begin?

Honestly my original dream was to be a Stuntman. I studied Chinese Kung Fu starting at age 5. As I got older though I hadn't found enough outlets to pursue as a career. My best friend and very talented emcee, Seemore Bluntz was working very hard to get traction in the hip hop scene and I enjoyed music so I figured I'd make myself useful to him. I had space thanks to my loving father owning the building and he was supportive enough to allow me to build a full studio where I could teach myself to engineer and produce music. It was off to races after that.

Can you share a defining moment in your journey that shaped your perspective and fueled your passion?

It was in my late 30's honestly. I had kinda already started to find my stride, well at least I thought I was. I was on my 3rd reboot of my brand and had a brilliant team of young ambitious creatives, I had also just became a full-time educator at a newly formed charter school in Staten Island, my beloved home. I was on cloud nine... then the bubble bursted. Everything kind of fell like dominos, one right after the other, with the preverbal cherry on top being a pandemic. I was honestly ready to give up, throw in the towel so to speak. Thankfully the martial artist in me kicked in. I went back to my roots and started practicing regularly again. I found my center in solitude and remembered that life is a beautiful struggle, I tapped back into my Kung Fu which literally means "great skill through hard work". That reignited my passion for discipline and dedication to over coming obstacles gracefully. Now I make an intentional effort to carry that energy into all things I do.

How do you handle setbacks and keep pushing forward in the pursuit of your dreams?

I genuinely love all I do. So I embrace it all. The good, the bad and the ugly. Setbacks are an expected part of life. Not being discouraged in the face of it is an essential life tool.

Are there specific individuals who have inspired you along the journey?

So many, honestly too many to name but I'll try to mention the immediate ones at the moment... My Dad, he pretty much is the basis of all things that are me. My Sifu Paula Wong, what I've learned from her and the rest of my Kung Fu family has permeated a majority of my life. And Finally would be my Blurred Noize/killsboro/hub17nyc Tribe, which is a fairly long list of names but they know who they are, they inspire me to stay consistent and useful to the community I love.

How do you maintain a balance between pursuing your dreams and handling everyday responsibilities?

I don't... I pretty much let things balance themselves. Life is push and pull, like tai chi. Don't fight the waves, find balance in the flow.

How do you overcome self-doubt and stay confident in your abilities?

By being blatantly transparent, painfully honest and most of all graciously loving to myself. I'm an avid believer that the better one knows oneself the better they deal with everything.

Can you share a memorable success story or achievement that resulted from your determination?

I’ve been determined to prove myself as an educator for years and just recently I've gotten that opportunity twice. First the dope people over at Projectivity Group asked me to helm The BeatLab Project at PS 78 in Staten Island allowing me the opportunity to teach elementary students digital music production. The next opportunity was offered by my Sifu when she setup lion dance and Kung Fu workshops at the Petrides School, as well as asking me to feature with her and other Kung Fu masters from chinatown in a CBS news story. The path chose me, I chose not to veer.

In what ways do you stay motivated during challenging times?

Kung Fu, that's my center. I find my discipline and will to push forward from all I've learned in martial arts.

What dream are you living right now?

I educate and make art everyday. The fact that is literally how I provide and survive daily is proof to me that I'm already living my dream. I am sincerely grateful to the most high for every day above ground.

What advice would you give to someone with a dream?

Stay the course and remember to breathe.
