How did you enter the world of DJing?

First of all, I’m very happy to be here with you. Thank you for this interview. Well, when I was 13 I had the opportunity to go to one of the clubs in my city “Il Pianeta” on a Sunday afternoon accompanied by an older neighbor which was usual in that club. And I was fascinated by the djs that played there. Soon later I met a boy, Edoardo, who was a dj. He played 80s music...funky music! And he had all the necessary equipment to mix (vinyls, turntables, mixers, etc ...) and I insisted so much that he decided to teach me the art of djing. He taught me all the techniques for a perfect mix. Unfortunately, he left us and I have to... thank him!

What did you do to improve your skills/knowledge?

I grew up listening to different musical styles ... from Pink Floyd to Kraftwerk going from psychedelic to electronic music, appreciating artists like Bjork, Underworld, Giorgio Moroder and many other eclectic characters of alternative music.Then hours and hours, whole afternoons, passed on the mixer to perfect the mixing technique and search for sounds that aroused emotions in me.

How did your first set up appear?

I'll tell you an anecdote... I made my first mixes with two tape players at the parties of my parish. With the tapes... what a mess!My real “career” started playing with two Technics 1200 turntables (grayversion) and a six-channel mixer I don't remember the brand. But everything was so fascinating ...

What does your current configuration look like?

Currently, I play with cjd Pioneer 2000 Nexus and Allen Heat Xone 92mixer. In the after hours, where I play for several consecutive hours, I also want to have Technics 1210 turntables to be able to play historical viny ls that have made and are part of me.

How did you get the name of your DJ / artist?

Jack is the nickname my friends gave me as a child. I simply added the colons.

If you could DJ in 3 events / festivals, what would they be?

I would love to play in various festivals where I haven't had the opportunity to offer my sound yet. If I must choose three ... Time Warp, Kappa Future Festival and Cocoon In The Park.

If you could DJ in 3 cities, what would they be?

I have never had particular preferences of cities or states where to play. I believe that every people has its kind of energy on the dance floor. 3 cities??? Berlin, London, NY!

If you could be a DJ tour for any artist (alive or dead), who would it be?

I admire many great djs, each for different things. The one closest to me for sound and atmosphere is definitely Sven Väth. I hope to share the console with him, one day...

What is your goal when you play live?

When I enter the console I have no particular goals. I hope is to convey to the public the emotions I feel when I play. And I must say that I almost always succeed. I'm not a DJ who pursues technology and news. I follow them but don't follow them. Emotions is what I want to convey.

What's your go to song right now?

Like every dj I go behind and create musical trends... currently I propose electronic music, mainly techno. But a techno made according to my taste. And I must say that the public really appreciates my trip. Happy for that!

What is your dream as a DJ?

Unlike many others, especially young djs, I do not aim to become the most famous dj. My dream is to be myself into the music... for listeners, dancers and anyone who feels emotions with my music.

What advice would you give to someone with a dream of becoming a DJ?

Forget about success, at least at the beginning. Start dj only if you are really in love with music. Learn the analog mixing techniques very well and perfect them. Then ifyou want to switch to digital media, you will be free to do so but not without having learned the essential basics of the DJ. Start with vinyls, if you can. Be humble and never forget that you never stop learning. And remember that every "famous d”j, except for a few cases, has become famous because he made a long apprenticeship, often going through dark periods from which they then recovered. This also made them "big djs".
