Squeegie O - Dao Lockman Interview

See this content in the original post

Why did you make this album?

To be truthfully honest ... I just wanted to create something that I felt. There's so much different styles of music out right now that I feel folks seem to forget the grass roots of what hip hop was originally and also the origin of where it came from. My music has always had a boom bap New York vibe but to actually create what you see and hear inside your mind takes you to a different plane. I wanted to give that vibe of 90's culture to what we see as taboo or a rarity in this game at the present state and time.

What inspired the title 'Dao Lockman EP'?

Dao Lockman represents a time in my life where I was all for bars. When in the early stages of the project I was fixated on this Saturday morning cartoon them (take notice the mega Man skits) I didn't wanna do something cheesy like Omega man or something like that and it set in on me bring Dao Lockman back into play. I released a mixtape earlier in years called "Dao Lockman V.S The world , If there ever was a prequel I would consider this it

If you could do remix to one song on the album and anyone as your guest feature, what song what it would be and who would you have on it?

I would do Nitemares and either have DOOM or some Ghostface bars or maybe both.

Who helped make this album what it is? Writers, Producers, Muses, Support System, Etc

To start off I wanna shout out DJ Rocstar for letting me rock his mpc. Ant Mcqueen on basic adivce on sampling and my man Christian Penn aka Teskt on showing me some trick on the scale of mixing and mastering. With that being said The producer is Khrimz which is myself. I wanted to give myself a crazy producer name. I also did the recording mixing and mastering myself and Of course I did the writing. No ghostwriters.

What is your favorite track? Why?

It's between Don't start and The conversation. Don't Stop just puts me in a place. Everything kicked in that song is my life spoken in word. The conversation is a tone setter for what I have cooking up next. I wanted to make you feel like we was building and I had a moment of expressing how I felt to the next person. Nitemares is a runner up cause it's just too f**kin dope.

When did you know you wanted to make music?

Around 12 13 years old I started to catch the itch. I was always infatuated with hip hop as a child. At one point I did it to be known now I do it to spread a message or give a vibe that others might not be able yo give you.

What is your goal as an artist?

Each one reach one teach one. Help others grown thru knowledge and understading. Wether thru dark comedy, tragic tale or postive vibes, the idea is simple let's grow and have a good time cause we all are here for a limited time.

What is your dream now that you just accomplished this dream?

To be the best Pokemon trainer that no one ever was. IDK to continue to live life and make music that the audience wants. And also to be a good father.

Have you ever been Stereotype'd? Tell us more

I'm always stereotype'd by what I say and the choices of language I use. How I present myself and what I stand behind but what I've learned in life is you are who you are cause of how you are made and can't a person in this world positive or negative tell you different.

Have you ever broke a Stereotype someone had of you? Tell us about it

I think some people judge before meeting me then after seeing who I am and and how I represent myself they have a better understanding of what kind of individual I am.

What's next for Squeegie O?

F.N.T.G the Album ... More details soon

And focus on production. Since I got the itch I like the challenge myself and I think producing is a very good challenge for me. Just Keep creating.

Some last words...

Peace and love to the world. Be a cosmic Frisbee to the universe and watch the energy you throw out. When you toss positive you receive positive. When those say you can't prove to them why you can. And always keep your phasera on stun cause the Klingons are definitely in the vicinity.

One Luv.
